The only way to know the best kind of email marketing that works for your business is to test different ideas and measure the results. This doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming, but is an essential step you mustn’t skip.
Use email marketing software that can track and measure your emails, or an alternative is to use a unique click thru link to your website that is only used in that email. Then you can measure the number of web hits on that unique URL to measure the success of the email.
If you want to not only measure the success of the email but track who has read it then in your unique URL add a passed parameter.
e.g. www.example.com/my-unique-url.htm?email=This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Remember if you do this you need to configure your email marketing application to including the email address in the message URL.
